Claim forms are going out to about 8,000 investors who have or may have had accounts at Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities L.L.C.

Irving Picard, the court-appointed trustee for Madoff, New York, and Stephen Harbeck, president of the Securities Investor Protection Corp., say the forms are in the mail.

SIPC helps compensate customers of failed brokerage firms.

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York is handling the Madoff bankruptcy case.
