The officials setting up the administration of President-elect Barack Obama will be offering the public updates on meetings with representatives from outside interest groups.

The Obama-Biden transition team says it will give members of the public a “seat at the table” at interest group meetings, by posting notices about the meetings, descriptions of the topics discussed, and copies of any policy documents or written policy recommendations associated with the meetings on the Web.

The transition team will define “official meeting” to mean “a meeting with outside organizations or representatives of those organizations to which 3 or more outside participants attend,” team officials say.

Organizations already listed in the transition team meeting section include the Asian Pacific Islander American Health Forum, San Francisco; the National Council of La Raza Institute for Hispanic Health, Washington; and the Business Roundtable, Washington.
