A fraternal insurer is sticking with a charity that builds homes for low-income families.

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Minneapolis, says it will contribute more than $24 million in 2009 to Habitat for Humanity International, Atlanta, in spite of the recession.

The donation will help Habitat build 314 affordable homes in 37 states and the District of Columbia, Thrivent says.

Thrivent Financial members also will provide volunteer labor, the company says.
