A benefits broker is marketing a new short-term health insurance program as a solution for workers who may lose their jobs as a result of the current economic turmoil.
AmWins Group Benefits, Warwick, R.I., an arm of AmWins Group Inc., Charlotte, N.C., says it has developed an AmWins BridgeCare temporary insurance program with Companion Life Insurance Company.
Companion Life is a unit of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina, Columbia, S.C.
The coverage can last for up to 1 year and provides a maximum of $2 million in lifetime coverage.
The coverage can pay for urgent care services as well as hospital care, and it comes with a generic prescription card, AmWins says.
