An insurer has revised individual policies that are designed for sale alongside traditional group life policies.

Unum Group Corp., Chattanooga, Tenn., says the new Interest Sensitive Whole Life 08 and Voluntary Individual Universal Life 08 policies include new features that the older versions of the policies lacked.

One feature, a long term care rider, can pay a percentage of the life policy benefit monthly to insureds who are living in a long term care or assisted living facility.

Another feature, a living benefit rider, available at no additional cost, pays out policy benefits early if the insured is terminally ill.

The new products will replace the current versions of the products Jan. 1, 2009, Unum says.
