Pru Reports On LTC Cost Increases

The average cost of various types of U.S. long term care has increased from 5% to 13% in the past 2 years, according to Prudential Financial Inc.

Researchers at Prudential, Newark, N.J., say staying in an assisted-living facility now costs about $100 per day, or $3,241 per month.

The average daily cost of a private room in a nursing home is $217, or $79,205 per year .

The average hourly rate for a home health aide-certified nursing assistant is $21.

Alaska continues to be the most expensive state for long term care, with assisted living costs averaging $82,956 per year and nursing home costs averaging $183,595 per year, the researchers report.
