Delta Dental Insurance Company is giving $340,000 to the Louisiana State University dental school to help it repair its auditorium.

The dental school, in New Orleans, is the only dental school in Louisiana, according to Delta Dental, a unit of Dentegra Group Inc., San Francisco.

Hurricane Katrina damaged the school’s campus in 2005 and forced the school to operate in Baton Rouge, La., for 2 years.

The school has returned to New Orleans, but its auditorium was still damaged, Delta Dental says.

Delta Dental notes that it also has given a total of $380,000 in additional aid to the school and its students, including a check for $1,000 to each of the 312 dental school students affected by Katrina.
