AlwaysCare Benefits has introduced a dental insurance rider that can pay for coverage of procedures such as bleaching teeth and putting in porcelain crowns.

AlwaysCare, a unit of Starmount Life Insurance Company, Baton Rouge, La., says it will cover bleaching for each tooth or arch once every 36 months, with a separate lifetime maximum of $50.

The rider also can cover posterior composite restorations, porcelain onlays and porcelain fixed bridges, AlwaysCare.

The company is offering the rider to groups with 50 or more enrolled employees and 80% participation.
