A U.S. company will be helping an arm of a Japanese company sell backstop coverage to self-funded employer health plans.

Nippon Life Insurance Company of America, New York, a unit of Nippon Life Insurance Company, Osaka, Japan, has hired R.E. Moulton Inc., a unit of OneAmerica Financial Partners Inc., Indianapolis, to provide administrative services and some marketing services for NLI America’s U.S. medical stop-loss operation.

R.E. Moulton will begin administering a new NLI America stop-loss insurance program throughout the United States starting Jan. 1, 2008, OneAmerica says.

R.E. Moulton also will market and administer the NLI America medical stop-loss insurance policy in the state of New York.

NLI America, in turn, will market and distribute its stop loss insurance product in all other approved states with the help of R.E. Moulton, OneAmerica says.
