Sagicor Life Insurance Company has opened an 18,000-square-foot corporate office in Tampa, Fla.

The Tampa office will replace the Scottsdale, Ariz., as Sagicor Life’s U.S. headquarters, according to the company’s parent, Sagicor Financial Corp., St. Michael Barbados.

Sagicor Financial entered the U.S. life market in 2005, by acquiring American Founders Life Insurance Company, Scottsdale, from Vesta Insurance Group Inc., Birmingham, Ala., for $58 million.

Sagicor Financial then renamed the subsidiary Sagicor Life.

Today, Sagicor Life is licensed as an insurer in 45 states and the District of Columbia, as a reinsurer in 44 states and the District of Columbia, and as an independent administrator in all 50 U.S. states, Sagicor Financial says.

The company sells individual term life, mortgage term life, annuities, critical illness products and administration services.

The company will continue to use the Scottsdale office as an office for serving the West and the Midwest, Sagicor Financial says.
