In assessing the value of all your employees, you certainly want to identify those who are willing to go the extra mile and to encourage them and put them on the path to advance into positions of greater responsibility and ability to affect firm growth.
But that doesn’t mean there isn’t a place for employees who, while good at their jobs, would rather spend time with their families than make large bonus checks and spend long hours at the office, or don’t want the responsibility of handling clients directly, or would rather avoid the liability of ownership in the firm.
