The Employer Markets division of Lincoln National Corporation, Philadelphia, has announced the addition of travel assistance services as a value-added feature to its group life insurance policies. Based on employers’ need to control the cost of employee benefits while still providing high quality benefit plans, Lincoln added the travel assistance program, called TravelConnectSM, to deliver further protection for its group life insurance clients at no additional cost. The Lincoln Employer Markets division is focused on delivering retirement income security to employers and their employees through retirement plans, group insurance, and executive benefits.

TravelConnectSM benefits include travel, medical, and safety-related services for covered employees and their family members. These services are available when traveling more than 100 miles from home regardless if it’s for business or leisure. Packaging this service with group life insurance coverage provides employees an additional benefit that can be utilized at any time.

“Whether you simply want the weather forecast for your travel destination or need emergency medical assistance halfway around the world, these services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” explains Julie Fried, vice president of marketing for Lincoln Employer Markets Group Protection segment. “With the proliferation of the global economy and a growing population of business travelers, offering travel assistance is a logical addition to many employee benefit plans.”

Lincoln Financial has contracted with MEDEX Assistance Corporation, a worldwide leader in travel-related services, to provide these services. Travelers needing assistance simply dial a toll-free number to contact a MEDEX Assistance representative. MEDEX Assistance’s staff members are professionally trained to help with anything from lost luggage or travel documents to funds transfers, translation services, or even emergency medical evacuation and transportation.

“TravelConnectSM is not only a valuable benefit for employees,” states Fried, “It also benefits employers by providing another tool to help recruit and retain top talent.”
