The Society of Actuaries has hired an executive search firm to help it find a new executive director.

The SOA, Schaumburg, Ill., has about 18,000 members, a staff of 105 and a $30 million operating budget, according to JDG Associates Ltd., Rockville, Md., the search firm.

Candidates for the SOA executive director post should have at least 10 years of business, association, academic or other relevant experience, JDG says.

The SOA would prefer to see candidates with experience leading a “high-stakes, technical and quantitatively focused organization,” and it also would prefer to see an advanced degree or credential in a relevant field of study, JDG says.
