Great American Insurance Group has donated $500,000 to the World Trade Center Memorial Foundation.

The donation will help foundation efforts to build a memorial and memorial museum to commemorate the people who died in the terrorist attacks on the New York World Trade Center on Feb. 26, 1993, and Sept. 11, 2001.

Great American, a unit American Financial Group Inc., Cincinnati, notes that its flagship company, Great American Insurance Company, was founded in New York City in 1872.

Great American affiliates sell annuities as well as property-casualty insurance.
