A think tank and a benefit plan have published a book about reforming the government health insurance program for the poor.

The Center for Health Transformation, Washington, and SHPS Inc., Louisville, Ky., are giving away free copies of the book at Document Link and Document Link

In the book, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Rishabh Mehrotra, president of SHPS, propose a set of principles for reforming Medicaid by promoting tools such as consumerism, care coordination, electronic health records and health risk scoring.

The book also features the views of a variety of other health policy experts and current and former federal and state officials, including Michael Leavitt, secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
