A managed care company will be offering disabled employees of small employers help with qualifying for government disability benefits.

CIGNA HealthCare, Bloomfield, Conn., a unit of CIGNA Corp., Philadelphia, has hired the disability services arm of Social Service Coordinators Inc., Milford, Conn., to help small group employees who become disabled and disabled dependents of small group employees get through the Social Security Disability Insurance application process.

The service, which will be free for plan members and employers, is aimed mainly at employers that do not offer private long-term disability insurance, according to CIGNA.
