Midwestern Insurer Merges Operating Units

Assurity Security Group Inc. has combined 2 subsidiaries left over from the January 2005 merger that formed the parent company.

Assurity Life Insurance Company, Lincoln, Neb., and Security Financial Life Insurance Company, Lincoln, now have merged to form Assurity Life Insurance Company, according to Assurity Security, Lincoln.

The combined operating company now manages more than $2.1 billion in assets and about $225 million in capital.

The company has about 400,000 policies and certificates in force, Assurity Security reports.

The company markets disability insurance, critical illness insurance, life insurance, annuities and specialty insurance plans through a network of about 40,000 sales representatives.

Another affiliate sells pension administration and investment management services.
