Personnel Changes: Transamerica, Phoenix, Securian

Transamerica Occidental Life Insurance Company has promoted Stephen Devine to be managing director of its Transamerica International Reinsurance Ireland Ltd. affiliate.

Transamerica Reinsurance, Charlotte, N.C., the reinsurance arm of Transamerica Occidental, Los Angeles, opened the Irish reinsurance affiliate in Dublin, Ireland, in 2001.

Devine is taking over from Rick Hodgdon, who is moving back to Connecticut for family reasons, according to Transamerica Reinsurance.

Devine has been the general manager and chief actuary at Transamerica International since 2002. He has a master’s degree in business from University College Dublin, and he is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, London.

In other personnel news:

- Phoenix Investment Partners Ltd., a unit of Phoenix Companies Inc., Hartford, has hired David Chambers of Fort Worth, Texas, to be a senior vice president and regional investment counsel for its South Central region.

Chambers’ region will include Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma, as well as Texas.

Chambers succeeds David Wadley, who is now national sales director at Phoenix Investment Partners’ wholesaling operation.

Chambers previously was a mutual fund and 529 plan wholesaler for the North Texas and Oklahoma region at John Hancock Funds, a unit of Manulife Financial Corp., Toronto.

Chambers has a bachelor’s degree in business from Western Illinois University.

- Securian Financial Group, a unit of Minnesota Mutual Life Insurance Company, St. Paul, Minn., has hired Kathleen Beck to be manager of security operations and investigations.

Beck previously was manager of corporate retail asset management at Nash Finch Company, Edina, Minn.
