Independence Holding Company says it has agreed to scoop up CA Marketing and Management Services L.L.C.

IHC, Stamford, Conn., is a holding company that has been expanding in the health insurance market.

CAM, Bloomington, Minn., is a health insurance marketing firm that sells high-deductible health insurance plans to individuals and small employers. CAM also sells Web-based health savings account administrative services.

CAM will change its name to IHC Health Solutions and serve as the primary distribution channel for IHC’s health insurance products, IHC says.

Jeffrey Smedsrud, IHC chief strategic development officer, owns CAM. He will be the chief executive officer of IHC Health Solutions once the CAM deal is completed, IHC says.

Completion of the deal is subject to approval by the IHC board audit committee.
