One insurance technology company has completed previously announced plans to acquire another insurance technology company.

Vertafore Inc., Bothell, Wash., has scooped up BenefitPoint Inc., San Francisco, the company that runs the Aptus electronic benefits distribution system.

More than 400 benefits brokerage and consulting offices now use the Aptus system to buy and manage benefits, and more than 400 insurers use the system to communicate with producers, according to Vertafore.

Vertafore says it will fold its AMS Benefits unit into BenefitPoint and operate BenefitPoint as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Vertafore specialty markets division.
