An educational program teaching financial planning to college athletes arrives at Notre Dame today, led by a Fighting Irish legend.

Allen Pinkett, a former running back for the team and now head of The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc.’s Playbook for Life education program, will visit his alma mater to provide tips to fourth and fifth year student-athletes on how to get their finances in order before setting out for the real world.

The Hartford developed the program in cooperation with the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Other students will hear a repeat of the program at 4 p.m. at Flanner hall on the Notre Dame campus.

In a recent survey, The Hartford found 38% of student-athletes expect to become a millionaires, yet 51% said they had not yet begun planning for their financial future after college.
