A charity backed by a large life insurer is giving to groups near one of its major offices.

The New York Life Foundation, an affiliate of New York Life Insurance Company, New York, has awarded $119,300 in grants to 6 groups in Westchester, N.Y.

The foundation is giving the largest grant, for $25,000, to the Child Care Council of Westchester. The grant will cover part of the cost of a summer literacy program for low-income children.
