A life insurance unit of Inviva Inc. is adding 3 variable annuity investment options aimed at customers who want to build hedges against inflation or deflation into their portfolios.[@@]

Inviva, Louisville, Ky., is best known for developing the "instant term" life insurance sales system, which combines the use of temporary, loosely underwritten life binders that can be sold directly through the Web with conventionally underwritten term life insurance.

Now Jefferson National Life Insurance Company, Dallas, an Inviva unit that sells low-fee VA contracts, is adding 3 VA investment options from Rydex Investments, Rockville, Md.

The additions, which bring the total number of Rydex fund options in the Jefferson National Monument Advisor VA contract to 48, include the Rydex Commodities Fund, the Rydex Strengthening Dollar Fund and the Rydex Weakening Dollar Fund.
