Barry Kaye, a life insurance agent, has contributed $5 million to help Florida Atlantic University set up the Barry Kaye School of Finance, Insurance and Economics.[@@]

Florida Atlantic is in Boca Raton, Fla. The new Kaye School will be part of the university’s business college.

The Kaye donation will help Florida Atlantic create a professorship in the field of insurance and financial planning and the Barry Kaye Institute of Insurance in Philanthropy.

Florida Atlantic also will name a hall and a lecture series after Kaye, and it will be using the Kaye gift to try to get a matching grant from the state.

The Kaye School will offer traditional courses and continuing education courses in the fields of banking, real estate, stock brokerage and economic analysis as well as in insurance, Florida Atlantic says.

Barry Kaye, who has his main office in Boca Raton, began working for New England Life, Boston, as an insurance agent in 1962. He now is a successful agent and the author of books about life insurance, estate planning and other financial services topics.
