Hartford Life Inc., Simsbury, Conn., has rewarded its chief exporter with a promotion.[@@]

The company, a unit of Hartford Financial Services Group Inc., Hartford, has made Gregory Boyko an executive vice president.

Boyko, who has been a senior vice president at Hartford Life since 1998, is head of the company’s international operations unit. He has been responsible for building Hartford Life’s variable annuity operation in Japan and developing a broad insurance and benefits sales program in Brazil. He also is in charge of developing a new Hartford Europe operation, Hartford says.

Boyko, who will continue to run the international operations, reports to Tom Marra, president of Hartford Life.

Boyko began working for Hartford Life in 1995 as a controller. He previously was chief financial officer at a U.S. life insurance subsidiary of ING Groep N.V., Amsterdam.

Boyko has a bachelor’s degree and a law degree from the University of Connecticut. He holds the Chartered Life Underwriter and Certified Public Accountant professional designations.
