LONDON (HedgeWorld.com)–Jim Mitchell was appointed head of investment management in Europe for Tremont Capital Management Inc.*
Mr. Mitchell will join Tremont’s London office from the firm’s Rye, N.Y., offices where he was vice president of investment management relationships.
In his newly created position, Mr. Mitchell will lead Tremont’s European research unit and will oversee the investment process of evaluating, selecting and monitoring managers, in addition to managing portfolios for select clients.
Reporting to Cynthia Nicoll, senior vice president, director of investment management, Mr. Mitchell will supervise Tremont’s investment research activities. He also will report to Rupert Allan, managing director of Tremont’s London business.
“As our business opportunities grow, it is critical that we continue to work closely with our clients since we intend to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness,” said Mr. Allan in a statement.
In London, Mitchell will head a three-person research unit as well as a relationship management unit. Additional analyst and relationship management hires are in the works, Tremont announced.
