NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com)–Third Point Management Company LLC, a manager of funds in value-oriented, special situations and catalyst-driven strategies with US$1.3 billion in assets, tapped Jeffrey Trongone as chief operating officer.

He is expected to enhance the firm’s infrastructure by focusing on risk management, compliance, marketing, business development, client service and overall business management.

Mr. Trongone’s resume includes stints as chief financial officer and managing director of JP Morgan’s asset management business and chief financial and operating officer of Chancellor Capital Management. He has served as chairman of a private arbitration panel and worked with law firms, bankers and consultants in the hedge fund industry.

“Jeff comes to Third Point after having played key operational roles in large multi-national asset management firms,” said Third Point founder and Managing Partner Daniel Loeb, in a statement. “We’re pleased to have that level of expertise as Third Point continues to grow and serve an increasingly institutional client base.”
