Allianz Life Hires 3 Distribution Executives

Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America, Minneapolis, has hired 3 senior executives and announced a major executive promotion.[@@]

One of the new executives is Jay Melquist, senior vice president of life and long term care insurance distribution in the individual insurance products division.

Melquist previously was a senior vice president of retail distribution at Prudential Financial Inc., Newark, N.J. He holds the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant professional designations.

The other new executives are Lynn Tyson, president and chief marketing officer of the USAllianz Securities Inc. retail broker-dealer unit, and Hayward Sawyer, executive vice president, national sales manager and head of field wholesaling at the USAllianz Investor Services L.L.C. variable annuity unit.

Tyson was a senior vice president at Allstate Financial Services, an arm of Allstate Corp., Northbrook, Ill.

Sawyer was an executive vice president at Prudential. While at Prudential, Sawyer helped Prudential absorb the operations of American Skandia, a major annuity seller.

The executive who was promoted is Vince Vitiello, senior vice president of strategic business development. Vitiello has been a strategic business counsel at Allianz Life for several months. He previously was a senior vice president at MetLife Inc.
