NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com)–Geneva-based 3A Alternative Asset Advisors, a US$1.2 billion fund of funds business that is part of Swiss banking group SYZ & Co., hired Michael Curry as senior analyst. He will work on hedge fund selection and monitoring and report to Chief Investment Officer David Palmans.
Previously, Mr. Curry was at Spyre Asset Management, a subsidiary of Abbey National. There he worked as risk manager and more recently as senior investment analyst with responsibility for performing fund due diligence.
According to 3A, his experience includes a range of hedge fund strategies: merger arbitrage and event driven, convertible arbitrage, fixed income, distressed debt, capital structure arbitrage, managed futures, statistical arbitrage and mortgage-backed securities. He also has prepared reports on portfolio risk and stress testing.
Before joining Abbey National in 1998, Mr. Curry was an assistant vice president in the market risk division at Credit Suisse Financial Products.
“As our approved list of hedge funds grows larger, we are continuing to recruit specialists with specific skills sets and who also have expertise across a range of investment strategies,” said 3A Chief Executive Tony Morrongiello, in a statement.
“There are a growing number of new investment strategies, such as niche credit strategies, that require a specific set of analytical skills and experience. Michael’s experience in this sector will complement 3A’s strengths,” Mr. Morrongiello said.
