NU Online News Service, June 2, 2004, 12:51 p.m. EDT – Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, Springfield, Mass., is heading to the ballpark to promote the services its advisors offer parents of children with disabilities.[@@]

MassMutual will be teaming up with Psy-Ed Corp., River Edge, N.J., the publisher of Exceptional Parent Magazine, to sponsor a series of 20 Disability Awareness Night programs at Major League Baseball games around the country starting June 8 with a Yankees game in New York.

At each game in the series, a MassMutual advisor will present an award to an individual who has been an advocate for people with disabilities and their caregivers or to an individual with a disability who has set an inspiring example for others.

The award, the Maxwell J. Schleifer Distinguished Service Award, is named after Exceptional Parent’s founder and former editor-in-chief, who died in 2000.

MassMutual will donate 250 tickets to local, nonprofit groups for use at each of the 20 Disability Awareness Night games.

MassMutual notes that The American College has helped it develop a Special Care Planner designation program specifically for MassMutual advisors who are relatives and caregivers of children with special needs.
