Morgan Stanley Attorney Moves to Stanfield Capital

NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com)–Andrew Siegel has joined Stanfield Capital Partners LLC as partner and general counsel.

He hails from Morgan Stanley, where he was the senior attorney responsible for overseeing Morgan Stanley Investment Management’s alternative investment vehicles, including private equity, venture capital, hedge funds and funds of funds. Before his tenure at Morgan Stanley, he worked at law firm Sherman & Sterling LLP.

At Stanfield, Mr. Siegel reports to Dan Baldwin, managing partner and chief investment officer. “We are delighted to have Andrew join Stanfield and believe his extensive experience advising on alternative investment fund structures will provide valuable insights as we grow our alternative-based investment platform,” Mr. Baldwin said in a statement.

Stanfield Capital specializes in credit-based strategies, including investment grade debt, leveraged loans, high yield bonds and distressed/special situations. As of March 31, the firm managed more than US$14 billion across various strategies, up from US$9 billion less than a year ago (see).

In 2001, Bermuda-based reinsurer XL Capital acquired a minority interest in Stanfield (see).
