NU Online News Service, Feb. 4, 2004, 5:01 p.m. EST – Texas regulators say they want life insurers to join the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association, Washington, and similar groups.[@@]

The Texas Department of Insurance has issued a commissioner’s bulletin reporting that department examiners use information from IMSA member companies to set standards for all life insurers.

Examiners may use information from IMSA and similar groups to evaluate insurers’ performance in areas such as agent licensing, training, replacements, advertising and handling of consumer complaints, officials say.
