NU Online News Service, Nov. 12, 2003, 3:24 p.m. EST – Benefit Partners, Omaha, Neb., a unit of Jefferson-Pilot Corp., Greensboro, N.C., says it has improved its claims processing enough that it can pay most life claims within 24 hours of receipt of the death report, without requiring the beneficiaries to file paper claim forms.

Benefit Partners adds that it can process 52% of dental claims within 48 hours of receipt and 90% of short-term disability claims within 72 hours of receipt. In some cases, the company says, employers or employees can submit STD claims over the telephone and receive a claim determination at the end of the telephone call.
