NU Online News Service, Oct. 24, 2003, 4:21 p.m. EDT – Ninety-six percent of the producers who participated in a recent Internet survey say they use one of three strategies when talking to clients and prospects who claim they have enough life insurance coverage through their employers.

When The Allstate Corp., Northbrook, Ill., polled 1,100 of its producers about the subject, it found that 62% of the producers tell clients that employer coverage might not be portable.

Another 26% say the employer might not provide enough coverage, and 8% say employer-sponsored coverage offers fewer options than individual policies.

Only 4% of the producers tell customers that they might find better rates outside the workplace, according to the survey results.
