Theres a lot going on in this issue and online this week.

First, youll notice our mini-celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Society of Financial Service Professionals on pages 24-33. While some 4,500 lucky people will be enjoying the celebration taking place at the groups annual conference in Honolulu this week, we hope youll take a moment to read Barry Higgins look back on the Societys 75 years (even if youre not one of those strolling along Waikiki).

Youll also find a look ahead for the Society by Alan R. Ziegler, Society president for 2002-03, as well as reflections by past presidents about what the Society has meant to the industry and to them personally.

Over the years the Society has greatly enhanced the professionalism of the business and we at National Underwriter are pleased to recognize its unique place in the life insurance industry.

Youll also find in this issue another installment of our monthly Advising Boomers section. We have gotten much positive feedback on this new addition to our list of regular features. But, since we are always interested in getting as much reader reaction as we can, we want to remind you to send your comments to [email protected] and let us know what you think.

Wed also like to hear from you regarding our “Events 2004″ supplement, which will be published on Dec. 15 and which lists leading conventions, conferences and industry meetings. Those wishing to submit their event must do so via the Internet by Nov. 14.

Go to www.nationalunderwriter.com, click on the “Meetings & Events” button at the top of the page, page down to “submit an event,” and fill out the online form. Events will be included in the magazine based on space availability, but all events submitted will be listed as part of NUs Meetings & Events Web site.

Finally, this November represents the second anniversary of our very first e-newsletter, the LTC e-Wire, managed by Senior Editor Linda Koco and supported by Staff Writer Marcella De Simone.

We invite you to join the more than 12,500 people who have subscribed to this monthly e-publication that has garnered rave reviews.

Once again, go to www.nationalunderwriter.com, click on the “online communities” button and follow the prompts. Every month youll be receiving a wealth of information, fact and opinion that will keep you up-to-the-minute in whats happening in the growing area of long term care.
