NU Online News Service, Oct. 16, 2003, 10:20 a.m. EDT — Travelers Life & Annuity, a unit of Citigroup Inc., New York, says it has established a Web site for its authorized financial advisors to help them understand new IRS rules for equity split-dollar arrangements.

The site offers a collection of training and marketing material to help its life producers and other authorized advisors to understand recent changes and present the available choices to their clients.Travelers says its educational tools are aimed at helping financial advisors who expect to meet with clients before the end of the year to review their options for handling existing split-dollar arrangements in light of the new regulations.

The Treasury Department in September issued final rules on split-dollar life insurance arrangements. Many employers have been using the arrangements to provide tax-free compensation for their executives.
