Answer Financial Finds Customers Skimp On Life Coverage

NU Online News Service, Oct. 15, 2003, 3:23 p.m. EDT – Seventy-six percent of the consumers who shop for insurance on the Web site of Answer Financial Inc., Los Angeles, own life insurance, but 52% of Answer Financial customers have policies with death benefits equal to just 100% to 400% of their annual salaries.

Only 14% of the customers have policies with death benefits equal to 400% to 700% of their annual salaries.

Answer Financial bases the figures on an informal telephone survey of its Web site customers.

Other survey findings:

- Eighty-two percent of the survey participants reported feeling comfortable or somewhat comfortable with the idea of shopping for insurance and other financial services on the Web.

- Eighty-five percent of the participants said they would still want to speak to a person before buying coverage.
