Prudential Head Takes Over As ACLI Chairman

NU Online News Service, Oct. 13, 2003, 5:37 p.m. EDT – The board of the American Council of Life Insurers, Washington, elected Arthur Ryan chairman at the ACLI annual conference in Miami Beach, Fla.

Ryan is chairman of Prudential Financial Inc., Newark, N.J.

Before joining Prudential in December 1994, Ryan was president of Chase Manhattan Bank, New York, for four years. Ryan ran Chase’s worldwide retail bank from 1984 to 1990.

Ryan succeeds John Barrett, chairman of Western & Southern Financial Group, Cincinnati. Barrett now will be the immediate past chairman of the ACLI board.

ACLI named Michael Roth, chairman of MONY Group Inc., N.Y., to be its chairman-elect. He will succeed Ryan at the ACLI annual conference in 2004.

Edward Zore, president of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, Milwaukee, was named ACLI chairman-elect designate. Zore will succeed Roth as chairman-elect.
