Robert Walsh just launched a coaching company that recently helped 18 advisors create their ideal practice. Here’s a sampling of the questions each participant had to respond to. Can you answer them for yourself and your firm?

o What aspects of planning do you love to do? Are you doing them? If not, why not?

o Who is your ideal client? Who do you work best with? Do they inspire you? Are

they profitable?

o What is your definition of success? (A certain sum of money? Doing 30% pro bono work? A certain number of vacation days?)

o What is financial independence? How will you know when you’ve achieved it? Can your existing practice get you to that point?

o What is your ideal daily schedule? If it’s not what you’re doing currently, why not?

o What is your ideal work environment? What changes will help you achieve it?
