Former NAIC President To Run N.Y. LifeAARP Life Operation

NU Online News Service, Sept. 17, 2003, 11:49 a.m. EDT – New York Life Insurance Company, New York, has picked George Nichols III, a former Kentucky insurance commissioner, to run its AARP life insurance operation in Tampa, Fla.

Nichols succeeds Thomas Kelly, who is retiring after running the operation for nine years.

Nichols, a past president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Kansas City, Mo., has been a senior vice president in New York Life’s agency department. He has helped oversee the distribution of New York Life products through 10,000 U.S. insurance agents.

Nichols joined New York Life in 2001 as a senior vice president and assistant to the chairman.

Nichols has an associate’s degree from Alice Lloyd College, a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University and a master’s degree from the University of Louisville.
