Fortis Benefits Honors Mountaineer For Perseverance

NU Online News Service, July 23, 2003, 12:32 p.m. EDT – The WillReturn Council at Fortis Benefits Insurance Company, Kansas City, Mo., will be giving its first annual Shining Star of Perseverance award July 25 in Kansas City to Aron Ralston, the mountaineer who recently had to amputate his arm to save his life.

The Fortis WillReturn Council has been granting another award, the Perseverance Award, to individuals who overcome obstacles created by injuries or disabilities.

The council is now adding the Shining Star award and creating a Perseverance Hall of Fame, Fortis Benefits says.

Fortis Benefits is a unit of Fortis, Brussels.
