LewisCo Acquires Disability Management

NU Online News Service, July 16, 2003, 11:13 a.m. EDT – LewisCo Group, Deerfield, Ill., has acquired a majority ownership interest in Disability Management Alternatives L.L.C., Farmington, Conn.

LewisCo helps employers manage worker disabilities and absences.

Disability Management administers disability plans for 400,000 U.S. residents. Workers who file disability claims through Disability Management have satisfaction scores over 90%, and the average duration of their disability leaves is more than 20% lower than the national average, LewisCo says.

The price and other terms of the deal were not immediately available.

LewisCo will be hiring Mike Dunst and Ken Lucas, the founders of Disability Management, and other Disability Management executives, LewisCo says.
