Tremont Expands Fund Analysts Group

Rye, NY (HedgeWorld.com)–Funds of funds firm, Tremont Advisers Inc.*, Rye, N.Y., has added three research analysts to its investment management team, with one hired for the London office and two for the U.S. headquarters.

Sanjay Tikku is joining Tremont’s London office as a vice president, to focus on European and Asian-based fund managers. Previously he was head of risk management and director of endowment programs at Fortune Asset Management, London. Mr. Tikku is experienced in manager evaluation and due diligence, portfolio construction, asset allocation and the monitoring of hedge fund of fund portfolios.

Edward (Ted) Wright will join Tremont’s Rye offices in mid-June as a vice president focusing on long/short equity strategies. He will work with analyst Elisa Mailman. For the past two years, Mr. Wright was employed by LJH Global Investments, Naples, Fla., as senior due diligence analyst, portfolio manager and head of the market neutral, long/short and fixed-income groups.

Brad Johnson joined Tremont as an assistant vice president, to work with analyst Susan Oh on credit opportunity strategies. For the past two years, Mr. Johnson was at M.H. Meyerson & Co. Inc., Jersey City, N.J., where he held the title vice president, mergers, acquisitions and restructuring.

All three will report to Cynthia Nicoll, senior vice president and head of Tremont’s investment management unit. “Our goal has been, and continues to be, creating a team which can tap into a broad range of expertise, from trading in a variety of asset classes to fundamental equity, credit and derivatives analysis,” said Ms. Nicoll in a statement. “Our manager and strategy research is the cornerstone of our investment approach that combines top-down with rigorous bottom-up research.”

Tremont, an affiliate of OppenheimerFunds Inc., advises on more than US$8 billion in alternative investments, including more than US$1.5 billion in proprietary products. OppenheimerFunds and its subsidiaries managed approximately US$120 billion in assets as of March 31.
