InsWeb Reports Smaller 4th Quarter Loss

NU Online News Service, Jan. 30, 12:12 p.m. – InsWeb Corp., Sacramento, Calif., is reporting a $6 million net loss for the fourth quarter of 2002 on $6.4 million in revenue, compared with a $25 million net loss on $6.3 million in revenue for the fourth quarter of 2001.

The Web-based insurance broker ended 2002 with $29 million in cash and short-term investments, down from $36 million a year earlier.

Revenue from term life transactions fell to $733,000, from $1.2 million for the comparable quarter in 2001, but revenue from auto insurance transactions increased.
