NU Online News Service, Aug. 13, 5:35 p.m. – Old Mutual U.S. Life, Baltimore, has hired Michael McGrath to be vice president-general counsel and secretary.
McGrath will handle legal work for Fidelity & Guaranty Life Insurance Company and Americom Life & Annuity Insurance Company, two Old Mutual U.S. subsidiaries.
Old Mutual U.S. is a unit of Old Mutual P.L.C., London, a large British insurer that has made aggressive efforts to expand in the United States in recent years.
Previously, McGrath ran a legal and management consulting firm in Detroit. He also has been general counsel of Royal Maccabees Life Insurance Company, Southfield, Mich.
McGrath is a past chairman of the Life Insurance Association of Michigan and a director of the Michigan Life & Health Insurance Guaranty Association.
McGrath has a law degree from the Detroit College of Law, and he has a Series 24 general securities principal license from the National Association of Securities Dealers, Washington.
