Northern Hedge Fund Director Joins Guidance Capita

Green Terrain invests in 18 managers in five distinct hedged strategies in the pursuit of absolute returns, while Blue Terrain will invest in long-biased hedged equity managers. Blue Terrain invests in four categories: industry specialists, value-oriented, growth-oriented and growth at a reasonable price.

Before joining Guidance, Mr. Walvoord was director of hedge fund investments at The Northern Trust Co., Chicago. At Northern, he oversaw the investment process for the firm’s four hedge funds of funds, which total more than US$400 million. Officials at Northern were not available for comment.

Northern plans to replace Mr. Walvoord, though the position will not be exactly the same as the one Mr. Walvoord held said Steve Timbers, president of Northern Trust Global Investments, Chicago, the asset management arm of Northern Trust.
