NEW YORK (HedgeWorld.com)–The Boston-based law firm of Goodwin Proctor LLP has expanded its hedge fund practice with the recent addition of attorney Kevin Sheridan.

Mr. Sheridan specializes in hedge fund formations, corporate finance and M&A activity, according to firm spokeswoman Melissa Benson. Before joining Goodwin Proctor, Mr. Sheridan was a partner for Dickstein Shapiro Morin & Oshinsky LLP. In his new post, he will serve out of the firm’s Manhattan offices.

In addition to representing hedge funds in litigation and business structuring, the law group specializes in leveraged buyouts, real estate, securities law, capital markets, and private-equity dealings. Other specializations include intellectual-property disputes and representation in white-collar-crime cases.

Goodwin Proctor LLP’s fund formation practice covers a wide variety of investment vehicle types, including U.S. and offshore hedge funds as well as private equity funds and real estate investment trusts. Institutional investors like state retirement systems and corporate pension plans are also represented.

Goodwin Proctor has its headquarters in Boston. In addition to New York, the firm has offices in New Jersey and the Washington .
