NU Online News Service, May 6, 11:01 a.m. – Zurich Life, Schaumburg, Ill, has introduced Z-appoint, a Web-based agent appointment system.

The general agencies that manage the agent networks can use the system to enter information about the “writing agents,” including commission rates. The system also reminds the general agency to ask each agent for electronic approval to conduct a background check.

Computers in Zurich Life’s home office then check applications against state licensing databases. If the application clears the verification process, the agent gets a Zurich Life agent appointment.

Zurich Life, a unit of the Zurich Financial Services Group Inc., Zurich, says it began testing the Z-appoint system at a few general agencies in March and is now making the system available to all of its general agencies.

Zurich Life introduced another paperless system, a Web-based term life application system in January. The company has already used the system to process 2,000 term life applications, the company says.
