Chief risk officers and vice presidents of risk management are the highest-paid risk professionals, earning an average base salary of $170,000 and average total compensation of $220,200, according to a recent survey by the Risk and Insurance Management Society Inc. (RIMS). That's 30% higher than the average base salary in this category and 44% higher than the average total compensation package earned at the next highest-paid position, director of financial/ IT risk management. Risk management analysis (enterprisewide) on average take home $67,100 in base salary and $71,400 with bonuses.
