LogicalApps, an Irvine, Calif.-based embedded governance software provider for enterprise applications, has released an update to its ACTIVE Governance solution that allows companies to combine the process of creating, updating and deleting user access across applications and systems with identity auditing. The ACTIVE Governance 7.2 solution makes it easier to analyze requests to add or modify user rights within a company's enterprise application; it simultaneously determines the com- pliance impact of each change. From a Sarbanes-Oxley perspective, the new tool also identifies segregation of duties violations.Key to the solution is its real-time preventive and detective controls. "LogicalApps started out in the IT space, but it is now expanding into processes and controls," says AMR Research's John Hagerty. "GRC can be many things to many different people, but when most people think of GRC, they think of the things that LogicalApps does.""LogicalApps ACTIVE Governance allows for more sophisticated business rules than you might not be able to configure with your ERP [software]," says Kathy Wilhide, research director for compliance and business performance solutions at IDC. "A solution like LogicalApps helps an organization have a more real-time view of weaknesses and actually provides good mitigating controls that the auditors can feel comfortable with and don't need to keep checking the foundational ERP over and over. "ACTIVE Governance 7.2 is available as a plug-in for Sun Java System Identity Manager and Oracle Internal Controls Manager.
